Branding for your business especially when you are the figurehead is hugely important and something with her extensive marketing background Gemma of Eucalyptus Events understands.

Making A Difference

An image can be the difference between Clients scrolling further or jumping to another page. How you present yourself and what you do is key when talking to your target audience. We live in a world where people are dismissed purely on their looks and their Instagram feed, which although feels harsh its just the way the world is right now. And so we need to adapt and put forward our very best selves.

Gemma is the owner of Eucalyptus Events; a wedding and event planning business based in the picturesque country market town of Cirencester. For her shoot it was essential that the images reflected her elegant and personal approach to each and every wedding and event she plans. By nature Gemma is always smartly turned out and approachable. And so we needed to find the look that represented this best for her and ensure that the images reflected her true self. Therefore when Clients book with her or see her website they know exactly what a professional service they can expect.

Planning the Photo Shoot

Planning for me is critical. Gemma and I spent a good few hours in the weeks running up to the photo shoot planning and creating shoot boards for the day. Working out colour themes for the props and of course complimentary wardrobe choices. Gemma also employed the services of a hair and make up artist to ensure her picture perfect finish.

On Location

The Kings Head in Cirencester was the setting for this photo shoot. A location I think also reflects Gemma’s style and approach to her work; fun and modern yet with an old fashioned elegance and feeling of trust when you work with her. We based most of our time in the stunning Assembly Room; what an incredible space!

Working with Carlé & Moss

Alongside a small selection of the images we took that day for Gemma for her website and social media requirements, Gemma explains why she chose to Carlé & Moss to take these images and gives us an insight into the photo shoot and her business.

Why did you choose Carlé & Moss / Nikki to take your business photographs?

Because she’s sh*t hot at what she does!

Having known Nikki for many years I’ve followed her work from the very beginning.

She has taken some photos for me in the past and each time I’ve felt very at ease and the quality of her work is phenomenal.

She is an incredibly talented photographer and has such passion for what she does – this really shines through in her photos.

Nikki has an amazing ability to understand any business and the challenges associated with the business – I knew she would deliver exactly on brief.”

Did everything go to plan? Did the schedules, shoot boards and/or planning sessions help?

Yes!  The shoot boards were created following a Pinterest board I had initially created to give Nikki a rough idea of what I was looking for.

We then had a phone call to chat through this more and the ideas that Nikki had based on this.

She then created the final shoot board and schedule based on this.

It meant sourcing relevant props and outfits was easy and that we covered off everything that I wanted to get from the shoot.”

What was the inspiration or theme for your photo shoot/photography sessions?

It was really important to have a set of images that could stand the test of time.  If I had to describe the inspiration for this shoot it would be ‘luxurious, timeless elegance’.”

What was your favourite part of the photography shoot/session?

“Where do I start?!  I honestly didn’t realise I would enjoy myself as much as I did.  At one point I even said to Nikki, “Can we do this all day?  I’m having so much fun!”

Like so many people, I’m someone who isn’t very comfortable in front of the camera however, Nikki made me feel so at ease within the first five minutes I totally forgot about my hatred of having my picture taken!”

What were the key images required for this shoot/session and what was the business need that drove this decision?

As a wedding planner I’m first and foremost selling myself, I am my own brand.  I need images of myself that reflect this and give the sense of the level of professionalism and quality of service I offer.

I also need images that give a small insight into some of the things that I do within that role – from the actual planning through to the day of the wedding itself.

To attract my ideal client, I knew I needed to elevate my brand and website to appeal to this market which is why I decided to invest in professional images.”

What was the business need that pushed you to seek out professional business photography?

“Being a new business targeting a Client base who understands and values a high end luxury service, it was important for me to ensure the images of my work and of me are of equally high quality and reflect what my audience are looking for.”

What advice would you give anyone planning their own business photography session(s)?

Have a clear idea of your audience, after all the images are to convey you and your business to your ideal client and not simply for you.

Make sure you give a clear brief to your photographer but be open to suggestions from them as they will often have a more creative approach that can give your photos that extra edge.

Finally, when the day of the shoot comes – enjoy it!”
