Well this was just the most perfect property near the village of Edge in Gloucestershire with the most perfect of views.
You literally felt as if you were standing right on the edge when you were at the windows. Ready to free fall into the vast and memorising countryside of this part of Gloucestershire.
I’ve worked with Julia and The House Ministry Team many times now and we have such a good working relationship. Its become instinctive which is such a joy and such a good way to work.
The photography brief for this exceptional piece of interior design by renowned interior designer Julia Murray was to showcase the light airy openness of this space.
The kitchen-diner area of the house was incredibly modern and high end. Clean lines and design details that give you the surprise and delight factor as you work your way around the space.
Nothing has been left to chance and yet it all feels incredibly natural and flows beautifully. Its the perfect entertaining and relaxing space.
A: “It’s a very modern, high end, new build property with the main living space on the 1st floor. It has stunning views across the Stroud Valley.
Our clients had moved from a smaller period cottage and they wanted to move to a contemporary aesthetic – a complete contrast to their previous abode. We had worked with them previously on a smaller project and they called us in to help with furnishing their main dining/living space.
They asked for a room with a Wow which still allowed the incredible views to be appreciated. Our clients had a list of requirements such as motorised shading for the windows which prevented overheating during the warmer months of the year, but without blocking out too much light.
The light from the pendants must not be reflected in the bifold doors at night, plenty of storage, reduction of echo with lots of hard surfaces and extremely comfortable dining chairs, to name the more important ones.”
A: “Beyond the customary shots of the room – showing the wider angles to get a sense of how the room is laid out – I wanted to capture the ‘feel’ of the room.
Nikki achieved this through close ups and little vignettes of the elements going into it such as the bespoke unit with the burst of surprise when the doors are opened to reveal the aubergine coloured interiors which we chose as a counterpoint to the side board in the same colour.
The colours of the room are all woven into the rug, designed by us as a bespoke item.
Chris, our client, is a talented singer and regularly gives performances in the region. We chose the pendant lights because they are reminiscent of cymbals – and because the light sources were shaded enough not to reflect in the bifold doors.”
A: “It is the incidental images that I discover you have taken without being directed.
We have a very good working relationship which means I can trust you to not only take the expected shots, but also those story telling images.”
