Dining at Stratton House Hotel

A food shoot that was delicious to photograph!

The restaurant at Stratton House Hotel with head chef Oli create and serve the most mouth-watering of dishes to their guests.

Dining at Stratton House Hotel is a real delight. With everything you could wish for from sensational starters, mouth-watering main courses, and of course delicious desserts. Not forgetting a fabulous cheese board that one just has to indulge in!

On location studio

I set up a mini studio on location at Stratton House Hotel for this shoot. Just out of sight of the main dining room in the adjacent private dining room and close to the kitchens. Working closely with Head Chef Oli to schedule the food coming out of the kitchens whilst not breaking service for the hotel guests enjoying their lunches in the main dining room.

Using locally sourced ingredients Oli’s creative chef skills are second to none. His attention to detail mirrors the deliciousness of the food that he creates. This is a restaurant you need to visit!

Sensational Starters…

Q: Please tell me about the specific requirements that you’d like people reading this blog to know about the brief for this shoot ie where/what/the project details/etc.

A: “Our updated menu for our dining offering needed to be showcased and shouted about.

Oli had worked hard to create this menu taking into consideration our guests and sourcing food locally to us here in the Cotswolds.

We wanted imagery that showed off his creative culinary talent and that also provided our guests with tantalising imagery of the food we create and serve.

They say you eat with your eyes!”

Q: What made you commission Carlé & Moss / Nikki for a further time to take the food imagery for your business?

A: “We have worked with Nikki many times before and love the inclusive way she works and the imagery she creates.

We knew that the new menu we wanted to showcase needed thoughtful and detailed imagery to show it off at its best.”

Q: What was your favourite part of this photography shoot/session?

A: “Watching Nikki set up a mini studio in the private dining area and the collaborating closely with head chef Oli. They worked brilliantly together as the results show.

Both taking the time to understand how each other works to get the very best images of Oli’s creative and delicious food.”

Mouth-watering Main Courses

Q: What were the key images required for this shoot/session and what was the business need that drove this decision?

A: “The key images for this shoot were the full plate shots both face on and also a birds eye view as well as some close-up macro image.

Detail and creativity are what makes food service special and we wanted to be able to show this visually alongside the wonderful testimonials and feedback we get in our restaurant.”

Q: Did everything go to plan?

A: “Yes of course! This is Nikki! Everything was scheduled around how the kitchen works and around our guests.”

Stratton House Hotel is an independent, family-owned Spa Hotel in the heart of the Cotswolds, located in the quiet outskirts of Cirencester.

They offer a country house feel with all of the conveniences of the town being just a short walk away.

There are 43 stylish and comfortable bedrooms, dining in the Garden Restaurant with views over their private walled gardens, a traditional Oak Bar and of course their award-winning Spa.
